Nowhere’s Map
About
In 1721, one cartographer’s mistake changed the course of history.
When aging royal mapmaker Ambrose Dane spills ink across a chart of the Atlantic, he invents an island that never existed, Nowhere. To protect his reputation, he names it Insula Nulla and prays the Crown will ignore it. Instead, the Admiralty funds a full expedition to claim it for Britain, forcing Ambrose to set sail on a voyage to “discover” his own lie.
Joined by his clever niece Margaret, disguised as her uncle’s apprentice, and a crew of philosophers, dreamers, and doubters, Ambrose must navigate storms, rival nations, and the dangerous boundaries between belief and truth. As the myth of Nowhere spreads across empires, Ambrose begins to realize that imagination can be more powerful, and perilous, than fact.
Nowhere’s Map is a comic, heartfelt, and deeply human adventure about the mistakes that define us, the lies that become legends, and the hope that keeps every voyager searching for home.
Perfect for readers of Life of Pi, Cloud Atlas, and The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet—discover the island that exists only in the human heart.
C.L. Watson, author of The Concord Protocol, weaves history and imagination into a tale of wonder, guilt, and redemption that proves one truth above all: every map reveals its maker.
